As you look at this example, think about your checklists and rubrics. In this entry, I 1) Tried to make it sound like a journal entry by adding details about what we did and what we thought. I tried to make it sound realistic. 2) I went to an urban location (Cincinnati). 3) I stayed in a hotel that was also a historical site. 4) I visited a cultural attraction (Cincinnati Fire Museum). 5) I visited a natural attraction (the Ohio River). 6) I added two pictures. 7) I added three links.

So overall, I was able to do many things in just one entry.

Dear Journal,
Today I woke up and was very excited to start our trip. After eating breakfast, we all hopped in the van and took off. Thankfully we packed the night before. We were on our way to Cincinnati. Our hotel is the Omni Netherland Plaza , which is in the historic Carew Tower in the downtown area. We will drive for about 95 miles southwest from Dublin to get there. I thought it would take a little longer than two hours to get parked and into the hotel, but we made it in a little shorter time.

After checking into our hotel, we realized how cool it was to stay in such an old building. The Omni Netherland Plaza is almost 90 years old. Our rooms are really nice and there is a door in between them. Here is a picture our room.

Our Room at the Omni Hotel. Sweet!

We decided we were going to visit the Cincinnati Fire Museum . It was really fun. I learned a lot about the history of fire trucks and fire fighting equipment. I decided that it would have been hard to be a fire fighter 100 years ago. Hank thought the old fire trucks were very interesting. After leaving the museum we walked along the Ohio River for a little bit. It was bigger than I thought, but you could still see Kentucky, which I thought was very neat. The bridge that spanned the Ohio River was really cool. Ellie liked seeing seagulls in Ohio, I thought that was pretty neat as well.

Later in the evening we ate dinner at a very fancy-schmancy restaurant called Local 127.
MMMMMMMMMMM, Yes this is good stuff Mrs. T.

It was amazing. Mrs. K really liked the scallops she ordered. Hank and Ellie went crazy and ordered steaks from the adult menu. I loved everything about this place except for how expensive it was. But, I don't splurge like this too often.
Good night,

Mr. K.
